HERITAGE: On Wednesday 1st January 2025, I paid my second consecutive New Year's Day visit to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway where I made two return trips from the Railway's main Station at Ludborough to North Thoresby behind the Top and Tail formation of Steam Locomotives AE1919 'Cranford' and AB1964 'Spitfire'. This is my second of two posts from the trip which shows Locomotives in operation the day of my visit and the upgrade of North Thoresby Station... Photo 1 - Avonside Engineering Industrial Steam Locomotive AE1919 'Cranford' stands at Ludborough Station as it awaits departure with the 11:45 Ludborough to North Thoresby to Ludborough service. AB1964 'Spitfire' was on the rear (see later Photos). These Locos had previously arrived back at Ludborough having worked the 10:45 Ludborough to North Thoresby to Ludborough service. Photos 2 & 3 - Andrew Barclay Industrial Steam Locomotive AB1964 'Spitfire' departs from Ludborough Station on the rear of the 11:45 Ludborough to North Thoresby to Ludborough service. AE1919 'Cranford' stands ' was on the front (see earlier Photos). These Locos had previously arrived back at Ludborough having worked the 10:45 Ludborough to North Thoresby to Ludborough service. 'Spitfire' was working its last day of service as its boiler ticket ran out that evening and it would therefore be withdrawn for its boiler service. AE1919 'Cranford' was on the rear (see later Photos). AB1964 'Spitfire' was on the front (see earlier Photos). Photos 8 - Avonside Engineering Industrial Steam Locomotive AE1919 'Cranford' stands at North Thoresby Station on the front of the 12:45 Ludborough to North Thoresby to Ludborough service. AB1964 'Spitfire' was on the rear.
