Formartine & Buchan Way 2. It opened in 1865. It closed in 1965. Maud Junction to Fraserburgh. Maud Junction, Brucklay, Strichen, Mormond, Longmay, Rathen, Philorth and Fraserburgh. Connecting with the Dyce to Peterhead Line. The 16 mile railway between Maud Junction and the fishing port of Fraserburgh was opened in 1865. Fish and Livestock traffic were its lifeblood as passenger trains only served intermediate villages along the meandering route. Passenger services ceased after a century of service. But freight traffic continued until 1979. Since closure. The entire length of the trackbed has been reopened as a footpath and cycleway.
