Alex Coomber
A preserved ex LNER Class K4 2-6-0 No. 3442 The Great Marquess heads across Newton Cap Viaduct with an RCTS enthusiasts special on 10th April 1965. The viaduct once carried the Bishop Auckland to Durham Railway over the Wear Valley. This line closed to passengers in 1964. But remained open for through freight trains until 1968. The viaduct was converted to carry the A689 Road in 1995.
