Colin Giffords photograph taken in March 1961 shows a former GWR Class 4200 Locomotive climbing Ebbw Vale under Crumlin Viaduct with an empty coal train. The 200 ft high iron truss viaduct carried the Taff Vale Extension Railway and opened in 1857. It was not only the highest viaduct in Britain. But also the third highest in the world. Sadly. It was dismantled in 1967.
