I recently had to take apart my entire layout. I tried to salvage as much as a I could, including the points. Most of them were painted at some point. Stripping paint turned out to be tricky. I experimented with nail polish remover, but that ruined some of the plastic. I then found some articles suggesting oven cleaner. These points have been soaking in said oven cleaner for nearly 24 hours and the paint is slowly dissolving, gladly the plastic seems unaffected. It does seem like 24 hours isn't nearly enough, though.
