Well, it's been an interesting year for me! 10. Due to engineering works at Carlisle, during the Spring we saw railtours terminating at Appleby and moving into the sidings and this shot shows 57313 "Scarborough Castle" and top and tailing the Northern Belle with 47826 which is just out of sight. 9. During the summer, DB Cargo ran a series of route learners from Knottingley TMD to Appleby where they ran into the sidings to change lines before returning south. This particular shot shows 66161 doing just that. 8. Taken at Penrith North Lakes in April, this attempt at an artistic shot shows Freightliner 90047 on a route learner with Barton Fell in the background. 7. Back in July, we had our first visit from the GBRF 69s on the weedkiller train. A few days later, 69006 was back again however this time with 66737. 6. Again in July, a rare occasion occurred when steam locos 45231 "The Sherwood Forester" and 45699 "Galatea" (running as 45627 "Sierra Leone") crossed at Appleby whilst working railtours! 5. Back to April, and I was delighted to catch the first trip of the LSL Scotrail set over the S&C with DBSO 9707 leading! 4. For the first time in over 60 years, 7029 "Clan Line" visited Appleby on a very wet day in April whilst working a railtour from Tyseley and I was lucky enough to see it! 3. In February, I hit lucky and happened to catch 47712 leading the LSL Scotrail set through Penrith North Lakes on its maiden trip to Edinburgh! 2. Another shot from an exciting April shows 40145 arriving into Appleby whilst working The Northern Belle . This train was one of those that would terminate at Appleby and go on to shunt into the sidings. 1. My favourite photo comes from September when 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" worked the final Fellsman railtour of the year! Lets see what 2024 brings! #MyTopTen2023
