This Steam Loco is a Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44896.
A very attractive ex works engine takes on water at Newton Heath MPD in 1964. Standard Black 5 44896 was built at Crewe Works in September 1945. It was withdrawn 22 years to the day at Leeds Holbeck and scrapped at Cashmores of Great Bridge on 31st May 1968.
