Cliburn lies halfway between Appleby and Penrith on the Eden Valley Railway and the site of the former station has seen dramatic redevelopment in recent years. The station was closed in 1956, 6 years before the line itself met the same fate, but almost 70 years on the site is still a hive of activity. The signal box controlled the level crossing and access to the adjacent goods yard but can also be rented out as part of the Cliburn Station Holiday Accommodation. The old station building has been redevolped into a private residence but there is also a small caravan park on the site, just to the right of the picture. #trainspotting #lineside #station #signalbox
