Conrail in the mid 21st Century!?!?!? π€―π₯Άπ€―π₯΅ Yeah you wish π Anyone remember Norfolk Southerns Dash 8 rebuild program? No? Well yes it was a thing and it failed horribly... Seen in picture is what might've been the last ever original Conrail painted GE on Norfolk Southerns Roster back in 2014. NS 8500 which was scrapped in 2020, started life in 1989 as a "Standard Cab" GE built for Conrail, the engine gained the number 6032 when it was put into service. After the Conrail split in 1999 this particular unit ended up as seen in the NS Roster and was renumbered 8305. Few years later the engine was picked by NS Officials to go under an Dash 8 rebuild program called the "Dash 8.5 Program" to extend these old GE's life at least for another 20 years.
