The Great North Forest Heritage Trail at Burnopmoor near Andrews House in County Durham. This is looking towards the site of the former Blackburn Fell Drift Mine which was located to the north side of the Bowes Railway Running Line. To the left of this photograph. This mine located between Marley Hill and Birkheads Bank Top supplied coal for the Bowes Railway Locomotives at Marley Hill and in latter years coal for coking. Coal Production from the drift commenced in July 1937 and the mine was finally closed in February 1979.
