Latest project for the National Railway Museum finished! This is part of a project where we're showing a typical "push pull" branch working - a concept which today is a huge part of rail operations, saving time by avoiding running round at the end of journeys. The Southern and Scottish regions later developed the concept with diesel locomotives and BR had similar workings on both the East and West Coast Mainlines. More recently TransPennine Express have introduced similar workings with their class 68s and Mark 5 coaches. This is a model of former Great Western Railway 14XX class, no. 1458 as it was in the late fifties, perfect for our little project. It started life as a standard Dapol 7mm scale (0 gauge) model - it has had various details to exactly match 1458 at this time before being repainted in BR black with Railtec Transfers transfers and their revolutionary 3D numberplate transfers. The locomotive was weathered to really bring it to life and finished off with Modelu 3D printed loco crew and lamps. It'll shortly be entering service at York! #modelmaking #rail #handmade #modelrailway #modeltrain #0gauge
