Built under utilitarian wartime conditions at Eastleigh and introduced in 1941. The third of Bulleids innovative Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2s was No. 21C3 Royal Mail. Rebuilt without its air smoothed casing in 1959. It was withdrawn in 1967 and has the dubious honour of being the last British Steam Locomotive to exceed 100 MPH when in service.
