The Dava Way. It opened in 1863. It closed in 1965. Forres to Aviemore. Forres, Dunphail, Dava, Grantown On Spey West, Broomhill, Boat of Garten and Aviemore. Forming part of what became the Highland Railways main line from Inverness to Perth. The 35 and 3 quarter mile railway between Forres and Aviemore via remote Dava Moor opened in 1863. The opening of a more direct railway between Inverness and Aviemore in 1898 led to its downgrading as a secondary route. Since closure in 1965. When it was a victim of Dr Beechings Axe. The northern section has come back to life as the Dava Way Footpath and Cycleway. In the south. The Strathspey Railway operates steam trains between Aviemore and Broomhill.
