A BR Standard Class 2 2-6-0 No. 78049 crosses the Royal Border Bridge over the River Tweed with the 16:00pm train from St Boswells to Berwick on 25th May 1962. This train travelled via the former North British Line to Kelso and then over the former North Eastern Line to Coldstream and Tweedmouth where it reversed. By this date. There were only 2 return trains each weekday over this rambling borders line which closed to passengers on 15th June 1964.
