A Class 35 BB Hymeks. Introduced in 1961 and dubbed Hymeks. Because of their Mekydro hydraulic transmission. They were mixed traffic locomotives for secondary passenger workings and local freight. Early in their career. Many were roistered onto the London Paddington to South Wales express services with indifferent success. Under the 1968/68 National Traction Plan. They were deemed non standard and withdrawal commenced in 1971 which was completed by 1974. 4 are preserved.
