In Northern Colorado lives a very small short line railroad dubbed The Great Western Railroad of Colorado. Originally founded by the Great Western Sugar company to service the sugar beet industry in Northen Colorado, it now is owned by Omnitrax and operates along about 89 miles of track that link up with Union Pacific lines in Greeley, and Burlington Nothern Sante Fe lines in Loveland and Fort Collins. They operate a small fleet of older locomotives including 2 former CN EMD GP40-2's with the Canadian safety cab.
