A Class 317 No. 317319 25 KV. Built at York in 2 batches in 1981-2 and 1985-7. The first batch of Class 317s was built for the newly electrified London St Pancras to Bedford service. Entry into service was delayed by a protracted industrial dispute over one man operated trains. Displaced in 1987 by the dual voltage Class 319. They were sent to operate out of London Euston before eventually joining the later built batch on the Great Northern and West Anglia routes. They now operate on the Lea Valley Services out of London Liverpool Street and Stratford. They will be replaced by the classes 710 and 720 in 2018/19. No. 317319 is dwarfed by the Barbican Centre as it pauses at Barbican on a Moorgate widened lines service to Luton.
